An alliance formed by regional economic and workforce development organizations to promote prosperity in northeastern North Carolina through strategic direction of resources that maximizes economic opportunity for all citizens.

Governance and Management

The Northeast Workforce Alliance is governed by an Executive Committee composed of eight members who represent the four member entities.  The Workforce Development Boards and the Northeast Commission each appoint two voting representatives, plus one proxy representative who votes only when serving in the capacity of an absent voting representative.  Workforce Development Board Directors serve as staff and do not vote.  Officers will be elected at the first meeting of 2009, at which time the Alliance will be deemed to have been formalized and the development phase of the collaboration complete.

The Alliance has two officers.  A Chairman conducts meetings, and a Vice-Chairman is charged with the conduct of meetings in the absence of the Chairman.  Meetings are conducted in accordance with Robert’s Rules of Order, and meeting minutes are recorded by staff on a rotating basis.

The date, time and place for the first meeting of 2009 will be scheduled by staff in such manner as to ensure inclusion of representatives from each member entity.  Subsequent regular meetings will be quarterly, and the meeting date for the next quarter will be selected by member representatives and staff based on mutual acceptability.  Any cost associated with meetings is borne by member entities on a rotating basis, but every effort is made to secure meeting space at no cost.
